Samarium cobalt arc magnet is a customized samarium cobalt made by a powder metallurgical process. Manufactured using binders such as epoxy, samarium cobalt magnets are inherently very brittle. Users are discouraged from grinding material because dry remnants are a fire hazard.
Some advantages of using samarium cobalt include excellent temperature stability and corrosion resistance. Because of this, typically coating or plating is not required. Samarium cobalt is excellent for operating in harsh environments where it will be exposed to the elements as well as high operating temperatures.
They are commonly used in sensors or other devices where the magnet needs to operate in high temperatures.

2 | Melting | Dissolve the mixture at high temperature and prepare an alloy |
3 | Fine pulverization | Turn the alloy into fine powder |
4 | Molding in a magnetic field | When pressing the fine powder, apply a magnetic field to it and prepare a molded product of powder with aligned directions of magnetization |
5 | Sintering and heat treatment | Sinter the product at about 1,200℃, and then subject it to heat treatment at about 1000℃ to increase its magnetic characteristics |
6 | Processing | Process the manufactured magnet base material and finish it into the product shape |
